Royal Enfield teases new Himalayan, could be BS6 variant

Royal Enfield Himalayan Rock Red

Royal Enfield has recently released a small teaser video of what seems to be the updated Himalayan. The teaser doesn’t reveal anything about the new bike, nothing. This hints at the fact that the upcoming Himalayan is going to be mostly the same and would be just a conversion into BS6.

The stricter and more stringent BS6 emission norms are going to kick in in India coming April. So manufacturers are now catching up the pace and launching their updated BS6 models.

If we talk about Royal Enfield, it recently launched its first BS6 motorcycle in India, the Classic 350. It is also preparing to soon bring out BS6 variants of the Interceptor 650 and Continental GT 650. And now with the teaser of the new Himalayan out, we know that BS6 Himalayan is up and ready and could be launched anytime soon.

We aren’t expecting any design changes in the new Himalayan. At the max, RE could offer some new colour options and graphics to have the BS6 model visually different than the BS4 model. Perhaps, a revised instrument console could make its way into as well. Of course, the engine will go under certain changes to become BS6 compliant.

The current BS4 Himalayan is powered by a 411cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine that churns out 23.5 bhp of max power and 32 Nm of peak torque. It is mated to a 5-speed gearbox. It retails at Rs 1.80 lakh (ex-showroom).

More details about the BS6 Royal Enfield Himalayan would be known in the coming days.
