The Suzuki Access 125 is the most popular scooter from Suzuki, and is one of the most popular scooters in the Indian market. It is the very model that brings in a majority of the sales volumes for Suzuki Motorcycle India and hence is extremely important to the Japanese auto manufacturer.
The Indian market is moving to BS-VI emissions norms starting 01 April, 2020. Since the Access 125 is an important model for Suzuki, the company made sure that it was BS-VI compliant, nearly three months before the deadline.
The Suzuki Access 125 BS6 was launched on 06 January, 2020 at a starting price of Rs 64,800. It came with several new features and updated styling too. LED headlamps, digital-analogue instrument cluster, eco assist illumination, external fuel-filler, extended floorboard and a larger under-seat storage capacity were some of the new features on the BS-VI Suzuki Access 125.
However, the big change was under the seat. The Suzuki Access 125 BS6 is powered by an air-cooled, fuel-injected, 124cc, single-cylinder engine with a maximum power output of 8.58bhp and a peak torque output of 10Nm.
It is available in Standard and Special Editions. The Standard Edition is available in Steel Drum Brake, Alloy Drum Brake and Alloy Disc Brake variants, while the Special Edition is available in Alloy Drum Brake and Alloy Disc Brake variants.
Prices of the variants with the disc brake up front have been hiked by Rs 2,200 while all the variants with drum brakes are now priced Rs 2,300 higher. Prices now range between Rs 67,100 and Rs 71,700. Manufacturers are now hiking prices of their BS-VI models to retrieve costs of BS-VI conversion.
The prices at which they were launched earlier might have been introductory, so that buyers wouldn’t be driven away by the high prices of BS6 scooters and motorcycles.
