We knew that Ducati has been working on a new Superleggera based on the world-renowned Panigale V4. We have also seen spy shots of a test mule of the V4 Superleggera undergoing testing in November last year. Back then, we did have an idea about the power and weight of the bike, however, nothing was rock solid. Now tables have turned as some of the official figures of the V4 Superleggera have been revealed and… darn it!
Apparently, the new and upcoming Ducati V4 Superleggera will have a whopping 234 bhp of power! All that coming from the familiar 998cc, V4 with an Akrapovic exhaust in place. That’s a lot of horses to tame, eh?
“Alright, so it has 234 bhp. Not a big deal. Most of the modern superbikes now have more or less 200 bhp.” Well, that’s true but get this, Superleggera means ‘Superlight’ and Ducati has done everything it could to stand true to the bike’s name. Thanks to the extensive use of carbon fibre in the making of parts and components like entire chassis, subframe, wheels, and swingarm, etc., the V4 Superleggera weighs a mere 152 kg (approx)! That’s almost 20 kg lighter than the mighty Panigale V4!
So you can do the math and try to figure out and imagine how fast the V4 Superleggera would be.
Ducati would also provide a racing kit that includes an Akrapovic racing exhaust, carbon fibre dry clutch cover, carbon and titanium swingarm cover and much more. There will be Pirelli race tyres to be there for you when you need the maximum amount of traction. And the braking will come from Brembo’s top-notch Stylema R brakes.
All of that would come at a cost, a huge cost. If the information has to be believed, the V4 Superleggera has been given a price tag of $100,000 (Rs 70,86,250 based on direct conversion)! And thus, it is quite understandable that it’s going to be a limited edition model. Ducati will send the bike into production in April 2020 and the deliveries will start from as early as May 2020.
