Honda has moved another step ahead in converting its product line-up from BS4 to BS6 by launching its all-new BS6 Activa 6G. Available in two variants, Standard and DLX, the Activa 6G has a starting price of Rs 63,912. The major difference between the two variants is the inclusion of an LED headlight in the DLX variant.
At these prices, the Activa 6G is around Rs 7,500-8,000 more expensive than the previous Activa 5G. So what all has been added in the new Activa 6G? Let’s find out.
To begin with, and perhaps the most important update, the Activa 6G gets a cleaner engine. It is a 109.51cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine that produces 7.79 PS of power at 8,000 revs and 8.79 Nm of torque at 5,250 revs. These figures are negligibly lower than that of the Activa 5G. However, unlike before, this time the engine is fuel-injected. Honda claims that the new BS6 engine is 10 percent more fuel-efficient than the BS4 engine.
Honda has also changed the dimensions of the new Activa 6G. It has a 22mm longer wheelbase at 1,260 mm which, Honda says, has allowed making the floorboard more spacious than before. It will also help in the scooter’s handling and stability. The Activa 6G also gets 18 mm of extra ground clearance at 171 mm.
We also get to see the inclusion of telescopic forks at the front in the new Activa 6G. This, combined with the larger 12-inch front steel wheel and 3-step preload-adjustable single shock absorber at the rear, makes the Activa 6G a better handler than before and also improves its ride quality.
If we talk about convenient features, there is an external fuel filler cap located at the rear of the scooter which will make life much easier. It can be opened by triggering a switch located right next to the keyhole. The same switch is also responsible for opening the seat under which there’s a storage of 18-litres. There is an engine kill switch on the RHS switchgear and a pass switch integrated into the high and low beam switch on the LHS switchgear.
Just like the new BS6 Honda Activa 125, the Activa 6G gets Honda’s ‘Silent Start System’ which gets rid of the clunky noise while starting the scooter. Starting the new Activa 6G will be a silent affair.
The overall silhouette of the new Activa 6G is very similar to its predecessor. It just looks that much more modern and updated. And for all of you who are curious to know about the scooter’s body, yes, it is of metal.
Honda is offering a 3-year warranty with the new Activa 6G. Customers can also extend this warranty by another 3 years. Thus, a 6-year warranty should be a great deal.
It’s expected that the new BS6 Activa 6G will start reaching the dealerships either by the end of this month or the next. It will be available in 6 colour options.
