14th January 2020, that’s when Bajaj will launch its all-new electric Chetak. This will be Bajaj’s first electric scooter and that’s why it’s an important product for the company and also for the segment in the Indian market.
Bajaj already did the unveiling of the new Chetak. So we do know what’s going to come on the 14th and we really like it. Bajaj has done a great job with the design of the electric Chetak; subtle curves give it a retro touch.
There’s a 4 kW electric motor that draws power from a lithium-ion battery pack. The transmission here is a unique automated transmission. Bajaj says that with the Chetak could give a range of around 95 km when ridden in the Eco mode whereas the range will drop to around 85 km in the Sport mode.
We also like that Bajaj has included various modern features in the new electric Chetak, like the fully digital instrument console which is Bluetooth enabled, feather-touch switchgear, full-LED lighting, keyless ignition, etc. Also, the fit, finish, and quality of the Chetak is top-notch.
When launched, Bajaj Chetak will be made available in six colour options – black, white, silver, blue, red and gold. As for the pricing, we don’t have an official figure yet but it’s being anticipated that Bajaj would price the Chetak somewhere in the Rs 1-1.5 lakh range. Well, we will find that out in just about a week.
Bookings for the electric scooter are expected to commence in the coming few days. Bajaj will start the deliveries first in Pune and Bangalore followed by Mumbai, Delhi and Chennai, and other metro cities later on.
All prices are ex-showroom
