Earlier this month, we reported that Royal Enfield would delay the launch of its next-gen models until at least mid-2020. And if that happens, RE would need to update its current product line-up to BS6 if it wants to continue selling them post 1st April 2020. Well, it seems that RE has started the conversion with its Classic 350 as the updated BS6 model has been spotted at a dealership.
This means that Royal Enfield would launch the BS Classic 350 sooner than expected. The spy shots reveal that the new model receives new colours, fuel tank logo design, textured seat, matte black alloy wheels, and blacked-out engine.
Talking about the engine, it is the same pushrod UCE (Unit Construction Engine) that is powering the current-gen Classic 350 and not the updated unit that is expected to power the next-gen Classic 350. Royal Enfield has done the necessary changes in the same engine to make it BS6 compliant.
Now since the updated BS6 Classic 350 has made an appearance, we wouldn’t be surprised to see the updated models of 350cc Thunderbird, Bullet and Electra; 350cc, because RE will be discontinuing its 500cc models and thus, updating them to BS6, doesn’t make any sense.
As far as the pricing of the BS6 Classic 350 is concerned, expect a hike of 5 percent on the current price tag. We will let you know all the details of the new BS6 model as soon as RE makes them official, so stay tuned.
