A leaked document reveals that Royal Enfield has filed a trademark application for a new name called ‘Hunter’. No other details regarding this mystery product are known yet and it would be too early to comment on what could it be. But here’s what we think about it.
Going by the name ‘Hunter’, it seems that the new Royal Enfield would be some kind of an adventure or off-road motorcycle. It could even be a scrambler. Perhaps, it would be based on the Himalayan. At present, it is the Himalayan that’s the most capable off-roader coming from Chennai. Royal Enfield also launched Trials 350 and Trials 500 earlier this year. Although these bikes come with some off-road goodies, they are certainly not as good as the Himalayan.
When we look at the fact that apart from the 650 Twins, other RE models aren’t doing that great in the domestic market, we wouldn’t be surprised to see a more affordable model hitting the market to improve the sales chart.
Obviously, at this point, we don’t have any spec sheet of the Hunter but it would likely be powered by a BS6-compliant engine as the implementation date of the new emission norms is nearing.
We are expecting to hear more about Royal Enfield Hunter in the coming days, so stay tuned to know more about it.
