Only Triumph Scrambler 1200 XC for us

More details and price to be announced on 28th May.

While we’re pretty juiced-up about the launch of the Triumph Scrambler 1200 XC in India, it’s a bit disheartening to know that we won’t be getting the top-of-the-line XE variant. Keep that thought aside, let’s talk about the XC.

The retro-look does grow on you.

Even though the XC is more affordable than the XE, its off-road capabilities shouldn’t be questioned. Just by the looks of this machine, you can tell it means business. Perhaps, it’s the dual exhaust system that is the most eye-catching feature of the bike. It’s located up-high just below the flat seat giving you a good water wading capacity. Triumph has also given the Scrambler 1200 XC 21/17-inch front and rear spoke wheel combination for easy off-road riding. They wear tubeless Tourance from Metzeler.

Powering the new Scrambler 1200 XC is a familiar 1200cc, parallel-twin engine that churns out 90PS and 110 Nm. It has been tuned to suit the character of the bike and hence delivers a commendable low and mid-range performance. It’s mated to a 6-speed slip-assist transmission. For the electronics, there would be 5 riding modes – Road, Rain, Sport, Off-road and Rider (customisable) – multi-level switchable traction control, and dual-channel ABS.

Looks like it can take a beating.

To handle the beating of off-road riding, the Scrambler 1200 XC has a set 45mm long travel suspension from Showa at the front and a twin setup from Ohlins at the rear. Both of them are fully adjustable and offer 200mm of travel. The fuel tank here is of 16-litres and Triumph claims a fuel efficiency of 20.4kmpl which would give the bike a range of approx 300km.

Bookings for the Scrambler 1200 XC are currently open at all Triumph dealerships in India but the price will be announced by the company on 28th May.
