When you think of Indian Motorcycle, you usually imagine a heavy, classic cruiser. And there’s nothing wrong about it because that’s what the brand has been making for decades. However, now, when you think of Indian Motorcycle, it’s very likely that the picture that would appear in your mind would not be of a heavy, classic cruiser but a naked streetfighter because Indian has just launched the FTR 1200 S and FTR 1200 S Race Replica in India.

These two motorcycles come nowhere close to cruisers. This is the first time Indian has produced something totally different for the masses. For the masses, because Indian has a rich history in Flat Track Racing and its FTR 750 race bike has been literally unbeatable and won numerous titles. This is from where the new FTR 1200 S and FTR 1200 S Race Replica draw inspiration.

Powering them is a 1,203cc V-twin, liquid-cooled engine which churns out 120hp and 120Nm and is mated to a 6-speed gearbox. The bikes are loaded with advanced features like Bosch stability control with a six-axis inertial sensor, lean-sensitive traction control, ABS, three riding modes (Sport, Standard and Rain), etc. There’s also a 4.3-inch full-colour touchscreen dash which looks amazing.

Talking about looks, these bikes are definitely going to shake things up in the market. The side-mounted double exhaust is one of the highlighting features. The riding stance is nice and upright which makes it easier to change the direction of the bike in a blink of an eye. Also, the beefy golden USD forks at the front along with the round headlamp enhance the overall rugged look of the motorcycle.

The Indian FTR 1200 S is priced at Rs 15.99 lakh while the FTR 1200 S Race Replica will set you back by Rs 17.99 lakh. Just like other Indian products, these too will come in the country as CBU. Bookings for both are now open for a token amount of Rs 2 lakh.

(All prices are ex-showroom, pan India)
