It was being anticipated that Husqvarna will mark its entry in the Indian market by launching Svartpilen 401 and Vitpilen 401. However, it decided to take the leap of faith and use the Svartpilen 250 and Vitpilen 250 to make its debut in India. So what happened to the 401s? As per the latest reports, it looks like they aren’t coming to India before mid-2021.

After the unveiling of the Husky 250s at IBW 2019, we thought Husqvarna has kept the 401s next in line. However, that, too, turned out to be false when the Husqvarna Svartpilen 200 came into the highlight. Based on KTM 200 Duke, this most affordable Husky is expected to be launched in India sometime in the Q3 of 2020. This pushes the launch of the 401s even further.

With three bikes in the pipeline, we think Husqvarna would hardly come up with any new models in 2020. That’s why the reports of the launch of Svartpilen 401 and Vitpilen 401 getting delayed until at least mid-2021 seem believable.

Just a reminder, the 401s are based on the KTM 390 Duke platform and will share the same 373cc, single-cylinder, high-compression engine which powers the current-gen 390 Duke. It has 44 bhp and 37 Nm of torque.
