Husqvarna caught us by surprise when it revealed its Svartpilen 250 and Vitpilen 250 at the IBW 2019. We were even more surprised when we got to know that there’s a smaller and more affordable Svartpilen 200 in the pipeline.
While both the Husqvarna 250s are scheduled to launch in February 2020, there was no word about the launch of the Svartpilen 200, until now. Our colleagues at Autocar India have reported that the Husky 200 will be launched in India in the 3rd quarter of 2020.
Husqvarna hasn’t released any official confirmation yet but looking at the surprises it has been giving us, anything can happen.
Husqvarna Svartpilen 200 is based on the KTM 200 Duke. It is powered by a 200cc, single, that churns out 26 bhp. When it comes to the looks, it has the genes of its elder sibling, the Svartpilen 250. However, there are a few changes, like the side-slung exhaust of the 250 has been replaced by an underbody unit in the 200.
Even though the Husqvarna Svartpilen 200 will be the most affordable Husky it will still be expensive than the KTM 200 Duke as it feels and looks like a more premium motorcycle.
Since Husqvarna now has a 200 Svartpilen, we wouldn’t be surprised to see a 200 Vitpilen sometime later in 2020 or early 2021.
