After numerous spy shots and speculations, Husqvarna finally and officially marked its entry in India by unveiling its Svartpilen 250 and Vitpilen 250 at IBW 2019. Yes, we were expecting to see the 401s but for some reason, Husqvarna decided to take its first step on the Indian soil with the 250s.
You would have guessed it by now but we are going to tell you anyway; the new 250 Huskies are based on KTM 250 Duke. They share numerous parts and components like suspension setup, brakes, wheels, frame, and also the engine which is a 248cc, single, that churns out around 30 bhp and 24 Nm of torque and comes mated to a 6-speed ‘box.
What’s different about the new Huskies, is their styling. The Svartpilen 250 is an urban scrambler and hence gets a wide handlebar for a relaxed riding position. On the other hand, the Vitpilen 250 is a cafe racer and thus has a pair of low-set clip-ons for that aggressive and committed riding stance.
Both bikes look very similar to each other in terms of design and styling. Talking about styling, it is the styling of these bikes that sets them apart from the 250 Duke. Perhaps, one of the best features of the new 250 Huskies is the simple, single-pod instrument cluster. We also like the round LED headlight.
Well, something is better than nothing and we’re glad that Husqvarna is finally here in India, even though the 401s now seem a bit distant. The new 250s will be sold at the existing KTM dealerships as more premium products than the 250 Duke. Husqvarna has not released the pricing yet. The new bikes will go on sale from Feb 2020.
Do you think the launch of the new 250 Huskies would affect the sales of the KTM 250 Duke?
