As per the latest reports, Hero MotoCorp is going to showcase BS 6 compliant Xtreme 200R and Glamour 125 at EICMA 2019. Actually, these two bikes are sold in some international markets by the name of Hunk 200R and Ignitor 125 respectively. And Hero has released a teaser of them just ahead of EICMA 2019 which indicates that they will be displayed at the event.
The teaser reveals that Hero has incorporated fuel-injection in the Hunk 200R (Xtreme 200R) along with a revised exhaust system that includes a 3-way cat-con to control the emissions. In India, the current Xtreme 200R on sale runs on a carburettor and has 18.6 bhp and 17.1 Nm on tap. Expect slight variations in these numbers for the BS 6 model.
On the other hand, the Ignitor 125 (Glamour 125) remains carburetted but gets Hero’s i3S start-stop technology which we are quite familiar with. It is being anticipated that Hero took this measure to keep the cost of the bike in check because slapping on a fuel injector system along with the i3S start-stop technology would have been a more tedious task. The Glamour 125 that we have in India right now has 11.5 bhp.
Let’s see what Hero puts up on display apart from these two motorcycles at EICMA 2019. As far as the launch of the BS 6 Xtreme 200R and Glamour 125 is concerned, taking into account the fact that the new BS 6 emission norms in India will be put into effect on April 1st, 2020, we are pretty sure that Hero will make the launch happen sooner than expected.
