Indian Govt is pretty serious when it comes to electric vehicles. In an attempt to make them more affordable, the Goods & Service Tax (GST) Council has decided to lower the duty on all EVs and the charger for such vehicles from 12% to 5%. As a result, Ather Energy has slashed the prices of its products.
Ather 340 gets a price reduction of Rs 8,000 and now retails at Rs 1,02,460 in Bangalore and Rs 1,10,443 in Chennai. Ather 450 is now Rs 9,000 cheaper and carries a price tag of Rs 1,13,715 in Bangalore and Rs 1,22,224 in Chennai. These prices are quite close to that of the conventional scooters (Aprilia SR 150 and Vespas) that we have on sale in the country.
Ather Energy recently started operations in Chennai and has also opened its first Ather Space in the city. It is continuously expanding its network and infrastructure to enhance the overall user experience of its consumers. For the future, the company has plans to further expand to other metro cities like Mumbai, Delhi, and Pune.
Do you think now with the new GST implementation, electric vehicles in India would see a boost?
