We all know that the new and stricter BS 6 emission norms will be implemented in the country from 1st April 2020 and companies will have to update their products if they want to continue to sell them post The Date. Hero MotoCorp has taken its first step by launching its BS 6 Splendor iSmart for Rs 64,900 (ex-showroom).
Interestingly, the new Splendor iSmart is not only Hero’s first BS 6 motorcycle but also India’s. We are expecting to see more bikes to follow suit.
Hero Splendor iSmart Key Specs-
To make the new Splendor iSmart BS 6 compliant, Hero had to make certain changes like-
- The carburettor has been replaced by a fuel injection system
- 9 bhp at 7500 rpm and 9.89 Nm at 5500 rpm
- Increase of torque by 0.89 Nm, reduction of power by 0.3 bhp
- Expect improved fuel economy
Apart from the engine, Hero also replaced the double-cradle frame with a new diamond frame for a more comfortable ride. And more on that, the front suspension setup, although the same, has been given a longer travel. The wheelbase is longer too. Even the ground clearance has been increased so you don’t need to worry about most of the uneven road conditions that you usually encounter, but please, no off-roading on it, okay?
And finally, to give the new bike a new and fresh look, Hero installed new a new bikini fairing, under-seat cowl, and a new fuel tank. You will also notice the redesign tail section of the motorcycle.
Hero Splendor iSmart Colours-
The new Hero Splendor iSmart will be available in three colour options-
- Techno Blue and Black
- Sports Red and Black
- Force Silver and Heavy Grey
