Honda will finally enter the BS 6 club by launching its first BS 6 compliant two-wheeler in the country – the Activa 125 Fi – on Sept 11. Since Honda already showcased the scooter around a couple of months ago, we do know how is it going to be like. However, Honda has still not released any official info regarding the price and specs.
Although the new BS 6 Activa 125 Fi would use the same 125cc single-cylinder engine, Honda must have done certain changes to fulfil the more stringent emission norms. The Activa 125 Fi will be the second scooter in its segment to get fuel injection. The first 125cc scooter was Hero Maestro Edge 125. Honda has used its PGM-Fi (Programmed Fuel Injection) tech along with Enhanced Smart Power (eSP) to improve Activa 125’s fuel economy.
If we talk about the cosmetic updates, the new Activa 125 looks very similar to the current model. However, some additions can be noticed on closer inspection. Honda has added a new LED headlight, chrome inserts on side panels, and a new tail lamp. In fact, the new Activa 125 will be available in new colour options – Rebel Red Metallic, Black, Heavy Grey Metallic, Midnight Blue Metallic, Pearl Precious White, Majestic Brown Metallic.
Honda has also paid attention to the rider’s comfort and hence added features like a remote release for fuel lid and seat opening, side-stand indicator with engine inhibitor function, revamped instrument cluster with a clock, fuel gauge, real-time fuel consumption, average fuel efficiency, and even distance to empty.
We will need to wait till Sept 11 to know the official price of the Honda Activa 125 BS 6. Honda did say that the new scooter will be around 10-15% more expensive than its BS 4 counterpart. This means that the BS 6 Active 125 would cost around Rs 70,000 (ex-showroom, Delhi).
