Benelli is on a spree of launching new motorcycles in India. First the TRK502, then the Leoncino 500, and now, reports suggest that the Imperiale 400 is going to be the next one to be launched in the country pretty soon.

The Imperiale 400 is a classic bike, similar to the Royal Enfield Classic 350. When launched, it is definitely going to give some heated competition to RE as well as the resurrected Jawa. The Imperiale 400 features a pretty basic double-cradle steel tube frame, round headlamp, retro front fender, spoke wheels, conventional forks at the front, and dual shock absorbers at the rear, split seats, an upright and relaxed riding position, and a low-slung straight exhaust.

Powering this classic motorcycle will be a 373.5cc, single-cylinder, SOHC engine that churns out 19bhp at 5500 rpm and 28Nm of peak torque at 3500 rpm and mated to a 5-speed gearbox. So far all Benelli motorcycles sound very sweet but we’ve got to see or rather hear, how the Imperiale 400 would sound like.

The recently launched Benellis have been priced very well and we’re hoping that the Imperiale 400 would follow suit. It is also being said that the Imperiale 400 will have a big percentage of local content to keep the cost in check. Pricing will be crucial for the Imperiale to succeed in the Indian market especially when it would be competing against companies like Royal Enfield and Jawa who already has an immense fan following and loyal customer.

We are expecting Benelli to launch the Imperiale 400 in India sometime during the upcoming festive season. Stay tuned for more updates.
