It was at the last Auto Expo in 2018 when Aprilia showcased two 150cc motorcycles, RS 150 and Tuono 150, however, we didn’t hear about them since then. Earlier this year, Diego Graffi, managing director and CEO of Piaggio Vehicles, hinted that the brand might be looking to expand its product portfolio and launch a new motorcycle in the next 18 months. Now, the latest reports tell us that Aprilia would once again showcase a 150cc bike at the upcoming Auto Expo 2020.
Although we don’t have any spy shot of the motorcycle, It’s being said that it is in its final stages of testing and chances of it being launched at the Expo alongside a new family scooter are high. There’s no confirmation whether it would be the RS or the Tuono or perhaps a completely different model. There’s a 150cc bike called GPR 150 that Aprilia sells in China and it had been spotted in India a few months ago. Therefore, we have to consider it as well.
If Aprilia does launch a new 150cc motorcycle, expect it to have a high price tag; perhaps, even more than that of the Yamaha R15 V3 because Aprilia is a world-renowned brand and it would like to charge a premium for its world-class products, just like what BMW did with its G310R and G310GS. However, for the extra money, Aprilia would provide high-end equipment with its 150cc bike.
We’ll be attending the Auto Expo 2020 and make sure to give you all the latest updates on the upcoming Aprilia. So, stay tuned.
