The Harley-Davidson Pan America 1250 has finally been revealed officially. It has been priced between £14,000 (Rs 14.27 lakh) and £15,500 (Rs 15.80 lakh) in the UK market. It is expected to be launched in India later this year.

The last few years have been filled with ups and downs for the Harley-Davidson brand. It was only last year that Harley-Davidson announced its exit from a few select markets that were not turning a profit.
At the same time, the American motorcycle manufacturer also has been developing some interesting motorcycles that could change the way the brand is perceived, and the Harley-Davidson Pan America is one of those motorcycles. It is Harley-Davidson’s first ADV motorcycle and it is something that has excited a lot of people.
The Harley-Davidson Pan America 1250 boasts of a unique design that sets it apart from the crowd. Up front is a rectangular headlamp surrounded by a large housing. There is an adjustable windscreen right above it. Harley-Davidson has retained the teardrop-shaped fuel tank and the signature V-twin engine, making it the only ADV with a V-twin engine.

The ergonomics have been crafted to make it easier to adjust to long-distance riding. Off-roading while standing on the footpegs too looks comfortable. The Harley-Davidson Pan America 1250 is powered by a brand new liquid-cooled, 1250cc, V-twin engine with a maximum power output of 150bhp at 9,000rpm and a peak torque output of 127Nm at 6,750rpm.
Unlike traditional Harley-Davidson engines, this one seems to like high revs. This is thanks to a shorter stroke replacing the longer stroke that traditional Harley-Davidsons are known for. A 6-speed gearbox drives the rear wheel via a slip and assist clutch.
The Harley-Davidson pan America 1250 comes with a host of features and electronic riding aids. It features a 6-axis IMU (Inertial Measurement Unit), traction control, dual-channel ABS, and five riding modes — Sport, Rain, Road, Off-Road, and Off-Road Plus.

The rider also has the option of changing traction control, ABS, throttle response, torque delivery, and suspension settings. Information is displayed through a 6.8-inch TFT touchscreen which can be tilt-adjusted.
The standard variant of the Harley-Davidson Pan America 1250 comes with a 47mm upside-down fork up front and a piggyback monoshock at the rear from Showa. Both the front and rear suspension can be fully adjusted as per the rider’s requirements.
The ‘Special’ variant features semi-active suspension that automatically adjusts the damping and rebound depending on the road conditions. Braking is handled by dual 320mm discs and a 4-piston caliper up front and a single 280mm disc at the rear. The Harley-Davidson Pan America 1250 is expected to be launched in the Indian market in the second half of 2021.
However, prices are expected to be steep because it will be imported as a CBU (Completely Built Unit). It will compete with the likes of the BMW R1250GS, the upcoming 2022 Triumph Tiger 1200, and the Ducati Multistrada V4.
