2022 Honda CB1000R revealed: Gets new features and a slight redesign

The 2022 Honda CB1000R has been revealed. The neo-retro naked roadster gets a few new features, a slight redesign, and a special Black Edition. The motorcycle has been revealed for international markets at the moment but will eventually make it to Indian dealerships later this year or early next year.

The Honda CB1000R is one of the best-looking motorcycles to come from Honda’s stable. It features a neo-retro design with some elements inspired by the older CB models and yet is ultra-modern with all the electronic wizardry one would want. It is based on the underpinnings of the Honda CBR1000RR and is therefore a thrill to ride.

Though the current model sold in India and International markets isn’t exactly outdated, Honda has revealed the 2022 Honda CB1000R update. The 2022 CB1000R is very similar to the current model in terms of design and styling. It gets a redesigned LED headlamp up front. The side profile is defined by the large tank panels and the short yet stubby exhaust.

The 2022 model rides on new alloy wheels that look more flashy than the current wheels. The Chrome and Silver elements found on the current model are all now finished in a darker grey shade. The 2022 Honda CB1000R features a new 5-inch TFT screen for instrumentation, a USB charging socket under the seat, heated handlebar grips, quickshifter, etc.

Powering the 2022 Honda CB1000R is a liquid-cooled, 998cc, inline-four-cylinder engine with a maximum power output of 143.4bhp at 10,500rpm and a peak torque output of 104Nm at 8,250rpm. A 6-speed gearbox drives the rear wheel via an assist and slipper clutch.

Suspension duties are handled by an upside-down Separate Function Fork (SFF) up front and a monoshock at the rear, both from Showa. Braking is taken care of by dual 310mm discs up front and a single 256mm disc at the rear, governed by a dual-channel ABS. The 2022 Honda CB1000R is expected to be launched in international markets later this year and in India shortly after.
