The TVS Wego has been discontinued in the Indian market. TVS Motor Company has stopped retailing the Wego in the Indian market and the scooter has also been removed from the official website.

Low sales figures combined with the implementation of the more stringent BS-VI emissions norms might have led to the discontinuation of the Wego. The TVS Wego has been around for a decade now.

It was launched in 2010 to compete against the likes of the Honda Activa, Honda Dio, etc. It instantly became a hit in the Indian market. It was the first time TVS was placing a scooter in this segment. It sat above the Scooty Pep+ and the Scooty Zest in TVS’ product portfolio and began bringing in good sales volumes.

The TVS Wego also became the weapon of choice for TVS Racing to field in the Scooter Class of the Indian National Rally Championship. The scooter was pretty unstoppable on the rough stuff too and brought home trophies from every single race. Well, it is safe to say then, that the TVS Wego was a very successful product.

New TVS Wego with minor updates launched

However, the TVS Jupiter was then launched and took over the position of flagship scooter from the Wego. The TVS Wego soon started losing popularity and sales dropped. This is also due to the fact that there was no major update to the scooter in the entire decade it was produced. It only got small updates like new colour options, a new digital instrument cluster, etc.

Though it dropped in terms of sales, it still continued bringing home the trophies for TVS Racing, that is until the TVS NTorq showed up. The NTorq with its brilliant engine and dynamic handling became the scooter of choice for TVS Racing and the Wego lost there too. The stringent BS-VI emissions norms put the final nail in the coffin for the TVS Wego.

The TVS Wego continues to faithfully and reliably serve the many customers who bought it. TVS will not end production of the Wego though. The scooter will from now be produced only for export to International markets.
