Deliveries of the Triumph Tiger 900 have begun in India. The Triumph Tiger 900’s deliveries in India have commenced a couple of weeks after its launch. The newest generation of the adventure motorcycle was launched in India on19 June 2020.
The legendary Triumph Tiger received a complete redesign and a new engine and was launched in three variants. The base variant Tiger 900 GT was priced at Rs 13.70 lakh. The Tiger 900 Rally came with a price tag of Rs 14.35 lakh and the top-spec Tiger 900 Rally Pro was priced at Rs 15.50 lakh, all prices ex-showroom.
The Triumph Tiger 900 replaces the older Tiger 800 and all three variants of the bike are powered by a new 888cc engine. It is, in essence, the old engine from the Tiger 800, but with a brand-new configuration and increased capacity. The liquid-cooled, inline three-cylinder engine now puts out 93.9bhp at 8,750rpm and 87Nm at 7,250rpm. A 6-speed gearbox drives the rear wheel.
The base GT variant is the road-biased motorcycle and rides on alloy wheels and sits a bit lower to the ground when compared to the other variants. The Rally and Rally Pro as the names suggest are off-road oriented and ride on spoke wheels shod with tubeless tyres among several other differences.
The motorcycle comes with top-notch electronics including ride modes, traction control, cornering ABS, etc. The new Triumph Tiger 900 competes with the likes of the Ducati Multistrada 950, BMW F 850 GS and Honda Africa Twin.
The old Triumph Tiger 800 was a star performer in terms of sales for Triumph Motorcycles India. The new Tiger 900 is expected to do the same now that deliveries have commenced.
