The Triumph Street Triple R has been launched in India. Triumph has launched the Street Triple R with a price tag of Rs 8.84 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The ‘R’ is the new entry-level variant of the Triumph Street Triple lineup, and costs Rs 2.49 lakh lesser than the top-spec ‘RS’ variant, thereby giving it excellent value for money.
The Triumph Street Triple is currently the only roadster/naked motorcycle sold by Triumph in India. For a long time now Triumph has sold only the RS variant of the motorcycle in the country. The Street Triple RS is the top-spec variant and comes with all the bells and whistles, including the best in terms of electronic riding aids, adjustable suspension, etc.
However, this variant was rather expensive and Triumph wanted to bring in a lower variant that would be more accessible to buyers. The Street Triple R is the variant we’re talking about. In terms of design and styling, it looks exactly like the RS variant. It gets the same LED headlamps and DRLs, the same compact fuel tank, and the simplistic yet classy rear end.
However, the racing stripes found on the RS are not found on this new variant. Also, the R variant is sold in two new colours — Sapphire Black and Matte Silver Ice. Instrumentation duties are handled by an LCD screen. It even comes with a decent amount of riding aids including ABS, traction control, quick shifter, and three riding modes.
The Triumph Street Triple R is powered by the same inline-three engine as the top-spec RS variant. However, the same liquid-cooled, 765cc engine puts out 116bhp and 77Nm. This is just around 5.36bhp lower than the 121.36bhp put out by the top-spec RS variant. Bookings for the motorcycle have commenced and deliveries are expected to begin later this month.
The Triumph Street Triple R is a motorcycle that offers great value for money and will prove to be a great weapon against the competition.
