BS6 Vespa Notte launched at Rs 91,492: Price hike of Rs 19,462 over BS4 model

The BS-VI Vespa Notte has been launched in the Indian market at Rs 91, 492 (ex-showroom). The scooter has seen a price hike of Rs 19,462 compared to the Rs 72,030 price tag of the BS-IV variant. However, it continues to be the most-affordable scooter in the Vespa product line-up in India.

Vespa has for a long time been at the forefront of building the most stylish scooters. Its scooters became a style icon and remain so to this day. However, Vespa’s scooters have been on the expensive side of the scooter market and not many people could afford them. Soon, Vespa tried to change this with the launch of the Vespa Notte.

Notte in Italian stands for night and true to its name, the scooter is finished in a matte black shade. It is based on the Vespa VXL 125 and is powered by the same engine and even comes with the same number of features. However, the matte finish as well as the relatively lower cost black paint job led to a lower price. Now though, with the BS-VI variant the price is not so low.

A Rs 17,000 hike brings it closer to the Vespa Urban Club 125 in terms of price. What do you get for the rather high additional cost? Not much really. The biggest difference between the old BS-IV model and the new BS-VI model is that the carburettor has been replaced by a fuel-injection system. Everything else remains just the same.

It is still powered by the same air-cooled, 125cc, single-cylinder engine.  However, it now comes with a maximum power output of 9.78bhp at 7,500rpm and a peak torque output of 9.6Nm at 5,500rpm which is only slightly lower compared to the 10bhp and 10.6Nm of the BS-IV model.

Suspension duties are handled by a hydraulic shock absorber at the rear and single sidearm mechanism up front. Braking duties are handled by a 149mm drum brake at the front and a 140mm drum brake at the rear. It comes with a combined braking system mechanism for safety, however a disc brake is not available even as an option.
