Triumph has just updated its product portfolio in India and added two more bikes to its lineup. The Triumph Street Twin BS6 and the Triumph Bonneville Speedmaster BS6 have been launched in the Indian market.
The two motorcycles were sold in BS-IV guise before BS-VI emissions norms were enforced in India this April. Now, cleaner and greener versions of the motorcycles have been launched.
Triumph Street Twin BS6
The Triumph Street Twin is one of the more popular models in the Bonneville product lineup. It has been on sale in India for a few years now. Earlier this year in April, when BS6 emissions norms were enforced, Triumph discontinued the model. Now it has been relaunched.
Prices start at Rs 7.45 lakh, which is basically the same price at which the older BS4 model was retailed. It also looks exactly like the BS4 model, except that there are new colours on offer. The Jet Black colour is available at Rs 7.45 lakh while the Matt Ironstone and Korosi Red colours cost Rs 7.58 lakh.
It is powered by a liquid-cooled, 900cc, parallel-twin engine with a maximum power output of 65bhp at 7,500rpm and a peak torque output of 80Nm at 3,700rpm. A five-speed gearbox with clutch assist drives the rear wheel. It features an analogue-digital instrument cluster.
Suspension duties are handled by a 41mm KYB telescopic fork up front and adjustable twin shocks from KYB at the rear. Braking duties are handled by a 310mm disc up front and a 220mm disc at the rear. Electronic rider aids include dual-channel ABS and traction control.
Triumph Bonneville Speedmaster BS6
The Speedmaster is the longest motorcycle in the Bonneville range and also among the most powerful. It might not have been a best-seller in its segment, but performed decently enough for Triumph to bring in the BS6 version.
The BS6 Triumph Bonneville Speedmaster has been launched at a price of Rs 11.33 lakh, which also happens to be the price at which the older BS4 model was sold. With the new BS6 model comes a new colour option and a cleaner and greener engine.
In terms of the design and styling, it still is a low-riding, badass cruiser motorcycle with a wide, sweptback handlebar, circular headlamp and a long tail. The new colour option added to the lineup is Cobalt Blue with Jet Black. Already existing colour options include Fusion White and Black, and Jet Black.
It is built on the bobber platform and therefore shares most of its hardware with the Bobber. However, the suspension, pillion seat and subframe are unique to the Speedmaster. The BS6 Triumph Bonneville Speedmaster is powered by a liquid-cooled, 1,200cc, parallel-twin motor with a maximum power output of 76bhp at 6,100rpm and a peak torque output of 106Nm at 4,000rpm.
A 5-speed gearbox drives the rear wheel. Electronic rider aids include switchable traction control, ABS, cruise control, and two switchable riding modes — Rain and Road. Braking is handled by Brembo discs up front and a Nissin disc at the rear. Bookings will be opened soon and deliveries are expected to begin by the end of the month.
