The BS-VI Mahindra Mojo has been launched in India. Mahindra has launched the BS6 Mojo at a starting price of Rs 1.99 lakh, with prices going up to Rs 2.11 lakh. The motorcycle remains the same in terms of styling and almost the same mechanically. It is now cleaner, greener and slightly less powerful.

The Mahindra Mojo is an icon, certainly not in terms of sales, but for a small section of the motorcycling community. Those who have ridden the motorcycle or owned it can testify to its comfort, its grunt and its legendary reliability. Despite Mahindra’s best attempts to bring in big sales numbers, the Mojo didn’t attract buyers.

Finally, in April 2020, the Mahindra Mojo was discontinued thanks to the implementation of BS6 emissions norms. Mahindra has been teasing the BS6 Mojo for a couple of weeks now. The motorcycle has finally been launched in the Indian market. In terms of styling, the BS6 Mahindra Mojo is similar to the old BS4 model.

It still uses the large twin-pod headlamp with LED DRLs, the muscular fuel tank, the dual-tone paint job and the rather simple rear-end. The BS6 Mahindra Mojo has been made available in quite a few colours and the price depends on the colour opted for.

The entry-level option is the Black Pearl colour, priced at Rs 1.99 lakh. Garnet Black has a price tag of Rs 2.06 lakh while Ruby Red and Red Agate both cost Rs 2.11 lakh. All variants are powered by the same mechanicals.

The BS6 Mahindra Mojo is powered by the same liquid-cooled, 294.72cc, single-cylinder engine. In the process of gaining BS6 compliance, the engine has lost 1.25bhp and 2.04Nm. It now has a maximum power output of 25.35bhp at 7,300rpm and a peak torque output of 25.96Nm at 6,000rpm. A 6-speed gearbox drives the rear wheel.

The BS6 Mahindra Mojo now has quite a few competitors to deal with and goes against the likes of the Bajaj Dominar 250, KTM 250 Duke, Suzuki Gixxer 250, Yamaha FZ-25, etc. These are all brilliant motorcycles and it is safe to say that the BS6 Mahindra Mojo has its work cut out for it. The BS6 Mahindra Mojo can be booked for a token amount of Rs 5,000.
