The BMW R18 is headed to India! You heard that right. The outright gorgeous retro cruiser motorcycle from BMW Motorrad will be launched in the Indian market sometime soon. The motorcycle has been listed on the BMW Motorrad India website. It is set to be the most-iconic motorcycle from BMW in recent times.
It made its debut earlier this month via an online launch event thanks to the current situation around the world. It is its design that sets it apart from the other bikes on the market. One look at the motorcycle is enough to steal the heart of a motorcycle enthusiast
It looks like it belongs in the late 1930s but is laden with modern electronics and a powerful, reliable engine. It features a classy circular headlamp up front, a tear drop-shaped fuel tank proudly wearing the BMW logo, a single seat and a large rear mudguard with a hardtail rear.
The slightly angled fork up front, the blacked-out spoke wheels, the boxer engine configuration along with the exhaust manifolds and the fish-tail exhaust all just add to the design element.
The BMW R18 is powered by an air and oil-cooled, 1,802cc, two-cylinder boxer engine with a maximum power output of 91bhp and a peak torque output of 157Nm. A 6-speed gearbox drives the rear wheels through a shaft-drive system.
This is one of the few motorcycles that has the rotating shaft on display and that just makes it look better, at least to a petrolhead. BMW Motorrad India also allows the website visitors to experience the sound that the boxer engine produces through the fishtail exhaust.
It is expected to be launched soon and deliveries are expected to commence by the end of the year. It will compete against the likes of the Indian Motorcycle Dark Horse and the Harley-Davidson Fat Boy in India.
