BMW F 900 R & F 900 XR launched in India at a starting price of Rs 9.90 lakh

The BMW F 900 R and F 900 XR have been launched in India at a starting price of Rs 9.90 lakh (ex-showroom). Both motorcycles are imported to India via the completely-built unit route, resulting in a higher than usual price tag.

BMW F 900 R

The F 900 R costs Rs 9.90 lakh, the F 900 XR standard costs Rs 10.50 lakhs while the F 900 XR Pro is priced at Rs 11.50 lakhs, all prices ex-showroom. The BMW F 900 R is a roadster with handsome styling and design.

Up front is a standalone LED headlamp with LED DRLs. Right above it is the 6.5-inch TFT, full-colour screen with smartphone connectivity. It comes with a large muscular fuel tank with sharp tank extensions. At the rear is a pretty compact and minimalistic design.

The BMW F 900 XR is an adventure sports tourer and hence is styled and designed to match. It is taller and has more pronounced ground clearance. It comes with a fairing and twin LED headlamps with LED DRLs. The F 900 XR also comes with a tall windscreen to add to its touring prowess. The seat is larger and more focused on comfort than sporty riding.

Both motorcycles are powered by the same liquid-cooled, 895cc engine. The Parallel-twin engine has a maximum power output of 105bhp at 8,500rpm and a peak torque output of 92Nm at 6,500rpm. A six-speed gearbox drives the rear wheel via a slipper clutch.

BMW Motorrad claims a 0-100km/h time of 3.2 seconds and a top speed of over 200km/h. Suspension duties are handled by an upside-down fork up front and a monoshock at the rear. The motorcycles are braked by twin-disc brakes up front and a single disc at the rear.

Both motorcycles come with a 6.5-inch TFT screen with BMW Motorrad Smartphone connectivity. It also offers turn-by-turn navigation on the screen and the screen and its various functions are controlled by a multi-controller positioned on the handlebar.

Both motorcycles come with switchable riding modes — Road and Rain. The full potential of the motorcycle is unleashed in the Road mode, while the power is dialed down and the effectiveness of traction control and ABS is dialed up in Rain mode.

The F 900 XR is available in two variants — Standard and Pro. The Pro variant comes with several additional features that make riding easier and covering distances quicker while keeping the rider and pillion comfortable.

It comes with features like adaptive cornering headlamps, cruise control, gear shift assist, Dynamic ESA ( Electronic Suspension Adjustment), etc. We expect the BMW F 900 XR to be one of the best-sellers for the brand in India. It comes with brilliant design and styling, good power output and an overall attractive package.
