The BS-VI Benelli Imperiale 400 has been launched in the Indian market. Benelli has priced the BS6 Imperiale 400 at Rs 1.99 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The motorcycle remains the same aesthetically and has only received a couple of changes to the engine in order to make it compatible with BS6 emissions norms.

The Benelli Imperiale 400 was launched to target the 350-400cc classic motorcycle segment that Royal Enfield has been dominating since ages. While the Imperiale 400 didn’t really do any major damage to Royal Enfield in terms of sales, it certainly earned Benelli quite a few good customers.
In April 2020, the Indian government implemented BS-VI emissions norms across the country, and all new vehicles sold since 01 April, 2020 had to be BS-VI compliant. Despite being just over three months late in meeting the deadline, Benelli has finally stepped-up and launched the BS6 compatible model.
The MD of Benelli India, Vikas Jhabakh was quoted as saying, “We are delighted to introduce the BS-VI Benelli Imperiale 400. The premium retro cruiser became popular since the day it was launched and is a favourite amongst many classic motorcycling fanatics. With the transition to BS-VI norms, we are confident about strengthening the Imperiale brand further, establishing Benelli’s identity in the entry-level classic motorcycling segment.”

The BS6 Benelli Imperiale 400 is powered by an air-cooled, 374cc, fuel-injected single-cylinder engine with a maximum power output of 20.7bhp at 6,000rpm and a peak torque output of 29Nm at 3,500rpm. A 5-speed gearbox handles transmission duties.
The motorcycle comes with a best-in-class warranty of 3-years and unlimited kilometres as standard. It also boasts of complimentary free services for the first two years (five free periodic maintenance services), and also an optional AMC (Annual Maintenance Contract) for the services in the third year of ownership. Benelli is also offering 24/7 roadside.
The company has set up a new website to handle booking for its motorcycles in case customers do not want to step into the showroom to book the motorcycle. The motorcycle can be booked for a token amount of Rs 6,000.
