The upcoming and much-awaited first motorcycle from the Bajajtriumph partnership could be a 350cc neo-retro offering. Reports suggest that the first motorcycle to come from the much talked about BajajTriumph partnership could be a 350cc motorcycle targeted at the recently launched Honda H’ness CB350 and the Royal Enfield Classic 350.

The pandemic-induced lockdown across the world created a lull in the motorcycle industry for a few months. However, since lockdowns have lifted in most countries, there is a barrage of new motorcycles coming out from eager motorcycle manufacturers.

Honda surprised us all recently by launching the H’ness CB350, which quite obviously is intended to take a lion’s share of the 350cc neo-retro market from Royal Enfield. For several years now, Royal Enfield has dominated the segment with the Classic 350 and Thunderbird 350.

The brand was looking for further dominance in the same segment with the launch of the Meteor 350. However, the launch of the Meteor 350 has been delayed several times now. Royal Enfield might just have more reason to worry soon.

Back in 2019, Triumph and Bajaj announced their partnership to develop new motorcycles. These motorcycles would have a capacity of between 250cc and 700cc. This was the perfect range of motorcycles for both brands. It would give Triumph the leverage it needs in the entry-level motorcycle segments, while Bajaj could have motorcycles with engine capacity of up to 700cc.

It seems like the perfect arrangement for both brands. Reports that are just coming in suggest that the first motorcycle to come out of this partnership could be a neo-retro motorcycle in the 350cc segment. Triumph is no stranger to the neo-retro segment. It already retails the Bonneville range of motorcycles and these motorcycles have a strong customer base across the world.

So there would be no surprise if these reports turn out to be true. A 350cc baby Bonneville mass-produced by Bajaj so that it can be sold at competitive prices might just be what the 350cc segment needs. This does sound like an interesting motorcycle.

However, it will go on sale only in the first quarter of 2022. By then, the Royal Enfield Meteor 350 would hit the market. All we can say at the moment is, things are about to get heated up in the 350cc neo-retro segment.
