Aprilia sSR1 name trademarked: Aprilia’s electric scooter is coming soon

The Aprilia eSR1name has been trademarked by Piaggio. Piaggio Group, the parent company of Aprilia, Vespa, Moto Guzzi, etc has trademarked the ‘eSR1’ name in Europe. The trademark was filed at the European Union Intellectual Property Office and almost confirms an upcoming electric scooter from Aprilia.

Aprilia eSR1 Electric Scooter Trademark

The ‘SR’ moniker has already been seen on scooters from Aprilia the Italian brand retails the SR 125 and SR 150 scooters. Now, it seems like Aprilia is heading towards electric scooters. The eSR1 name has been registered and even the eSR1 badging looks very similar to the SR branding we see on the current scooters.

No other details are available at the moment. However, it is safe to say that Aprilia will use the strategy of sharing drivetrain with Vespa which it currently follows. The Aprilia SR 150 currently uses the same engine that also does duty in the Vespa VXL 150 and SXL 150. The Aprilia SR 125 uses the engine from the 125cc Vespa scooters.

The upcoming eSR1 too would therefore feature the drivetrain from the Vespa Elettrica electric scooter. The Vespa Elettrica is sold in a 45km/h variant as well as a 70km/h variant. We expect that the Aprilia eSR1 would also be sold in two variants.

However, we also expect the Aprilia electric scooter to develop more power and torque and hence, it will be faster too. In-fact, it might just be one of the quickest electric scooters around. While Vespa took the retro route with the Elettrica, we expect Aprilia to go for a more modern and stylish route with the upcoming eSR1.

It will inevitably be launched in India and will compete with the likes of the Ather 450X, TVS iQube and Bajaj Chetak Electric.
