The 2021 Kawasaki Ninja 250 has been launched in Japan. Kawasaki has launched the 2021 Ninja 250 in the Japanese market at 6,43,500 yen (Rs 4.57 lakh) for the base variant decked in Metallic Carbon Gray. The top-spec variant decked in KRT racing colours is priced at 6,54,500 yen (Rs 4.62 lakh). The difference between the two variants is just aesthetic. It is the same in terms of mechanicals.
The Kawasaki Ninja is one of the few versatile motorcycles out there. It handles curvy roads, track days and even long rides with equal ease and has been one of Kawasaki’s bread and butter models for several years now. Kawasaki pulled the Ninja 250 out of the Indian market some time ago, choosing instead to retail the Ninja 300 and Ninja 400.
In the Japanese market though, the Kawasaki Ninja 250 is a hot seller. Now Kawasaki has launched the updated 2021 model for the Japanese market. The new 2021 model features only aesthetic changes while the mechanicals remain just as on the outgoing model.
It comes in two colours — Metallic Carbon Gray and KRT racing colours. The KRT edition we have to say looks brilliant and very close to the motorcycle that the Kawasaki racing team races with. Up front is the same familiar twin-pod LED headlamp unit. At the sides, it still features the large fairing with sharp creases and cuts.
It carries on that aggressive look that we have come to associate the Ninja 250 with. The 2021 Kawasaki Ninja 250 is still powered by the same liquid-cooled, 248cc, parallel-twin engine with a maximum power output of 36.2bhp at 12,500rpm and a peak torque output of 23Nm at 10,000rpm.
A six-speed gearbox drives the rear wheel via a slipper clutch with an assist function. Suspension duties are handled by a telescopic fork up front and a monoshock at the rear. Braking is taken care of by a 310mm petal disc at the front and a 220mm petal disc at the rear. We do not expect Kawasaki to relaunch the NInja 250 in the Indian market.
