The first time around when the new and upcoming Royal Enfield Himalayan was spotted testing, the photographs could barely reveal what we were in store for. This time though we have a rather clear photograph of the Royal Enfield Himalayan and that means we now have more details. For starters let us begin with the shared bits. The speedo, headlight and the tail light seem to be directly from the Thunderbird. The brakes look the same as that on that on the GT. The cosmetic bits however could be also just a bolt on for testing. But we think these will move on to the final production model. Now interestingly the rest of the Royal Enfield Himalayan seems pretty much original to the model. The frame seems to be a modified version of the one on the Continental GT, with the tail section reworked on. The exhaust end can looks very sporty and far from the classic all chrome long pipe that we are used to. The tank and the seating position is what probably really stands out in this new RE. The rider seating position looks relaxed and upright with handle bars that look wide and reasonably high.
The engine on this Royal Enfield Himalayan is expected to be a fuel injected 410 cc single cylinder, based on the existing engine that RE has. With this reduction is cubic capacity, RE are looking to make the engine a more refined one with a shorter stroke. So expect a bump in power as the engine character will now slightly lean towards a sporty character from the all out torquey nature. Ground clearance looks good and design wise the Royal Enfield Himalayan sure looks to be the next flagship of the RE brand. In fact design wise it is as big as a big step as the Continental GT was and surely this one looks very interesting and we are extremely keen to see it in its final production ready form. We are expecting a launch later this year, although do not be surprised if RE decide to do the big unveiling at the Auto Expo early next year.
