The relationship between Kinetic and MV Agusta is not a recent development. It started in 2008 with Kinetic making the engine and frame for the MV Agusta sub brand called the ‘Cagiva Mito’, a 125cc motorcycle. Even back then MV Agusta were keen on entering the Indian motorcycle market. The reasons for the delay are many and boring with several corporate jargons and buying and selling of the companies involved. But now things are stable at both ends and seems to be the best time to take the next big step. From what we can understand Firodia Group, the company that owns the Kinetic brand is all set to take the relationship with MV Agusta to the next level by having MV Agusta in India, be a dream come true for many enthusiasts.
It currently looks like Kinetic and MV Agusta are in the final phase of deciding the intricate details of the big launch. The alliance is most likely to start with a CBU operation, but with the recent trend swinging towards the CKD route, do not be surprised to find a mixed bag of CKD and CBU options at the launch. Similar to how Triumph/Ducati and Harley Davidson currently operate in India. The CKD route would effectively allow Kinetic and MV Agusta in India to price their motorcycles quite competitively. This could very well be the Brutale range. The list of beautiful motorcycles that this Italian brand has is jaw dropping, each more elegant than the previous. These motorcycles are only preceded by the even more spectacular history that the brand has. Just imagine, one day in the near future you could just walk down to an MV Agusta dealership and book yourself an F4, or an F3 800 or even an Rivale for that matter.
CKD has to be the route to keep the entry level price of these motorcycles sane. With Kinetic already having a plant in Pune, for sure that’s where the all the Italian magic for India will brew. We wait for an official word on the launch and even more restlessly for the list of motorcycles that will make it here along with how they are brought here, CKD or CBU. MV Agusta in India is soon going to be a reality.
