Royal Enfield announced their limited edition Classic 500’s themed on the Despatch riders of the World War in May this year. However, the Royal Enfield Despatch prices were not announced at the unveiling. The earlier unveiling coincided with the opening of their flagship Gear store in Khan Market, in Delhi. Coming back to the Despatch editions, basically the despatch riders were those who used to travel between army camps, mostly on motorcycles carrying critical information regarding warfare, updates and strategies. The camps relied on these riders for accurate and secure information. And these very riders are at the heart of the Limited edition Royal Enfield Despatch models.
Available in two colour options, Squadron Blue and Desert Storm Despatch, the motorcycles have approximately an on-road price of 2.32 lakh in Bangalore. The limited edition demanding quite a premium over the standard Classic 500 which is priced at approx 1.8 lakh on road. So what is really different in the Despatch version? The paint job has a rather unique application process that is not just time consuming but also needs a highly skilled craftsman. A detailed report on the painting process of the Despatch version can be read here. Being a limited edition, Royal Enfield will only be making 200 of these, so expect this version to be sold out right on day one from when bookings open, which is on 15th July, 2015. So what do you think about the Royal Enfield Despatch prices? Would you pay such a hefty premium for what is essentially a paint job? Let us know.
