Husqvarna used the EICMA 2014 platform to introduce three new street models and finally return to the road, battling the best. Husqvarna is no new comer to this segment though and have a strong history to back their new step. The first one is the new Husqvarna 701 Supermoto, a street model that comes standard with ride by wire throttle, APTC slipper clutch, Supermoto tuned ABS, WP suspension and an engine management system. All this in a package that weighs just 145 kgs. Engine power output is at 67 HP. The other street motorcycles introduced include the 401 Vitpilen and the 401 Svartpilen, both these were presented in the concept form. Both these taking strong cues from the rich heritage of the brand focusing especially from the 60’s and 70’s.
The 401 Vitpilen is Swedish for ‘White Arrow’ and takes inspiration from the 1953 Silverpilen, but truly has a original design that mixes today’s latest technologies and high quality material to make an inspiring product. The 401 Svartpilen is Swedish for ‘Black Arrow’, and is a motorcycle more on the design lines of ‘minimal is good’. It sticks to the bare essentials and focuses just on one thing, the riding experience. It is a single cylinder lightweight machine that provides a comfortable seating position. Both these 401’s clearly show the best of both worlds, technology and the strong Husqvarna heritage.
