Harley Davidson has just taken the wraps off their new motorcycle the Breakout for the US markets. This new Harley is a premium custom cruiser inspired by the classic Gasser drag bikes of the ’50s and ’60s, but with more power, top-of-the-line treatments and lots of low-down menace. The engine on the new Harley Breakout is the iconic air-cooled Twin Cam 103B (1690cc), that produces a massive 129 Nm of torque at just 3000 RPM. The transmission is handled by a six-speed ‘Cruise Drive’ gear box that provides smooth, quiet shifting and reduces engine speed on the highway, so you get a better match between engine turnover and road speed. The Breakout is balanced and has a damped suspension to give it a neutral feel–even with those big, wide tires–and engineered it for lightness, for an excellent power-to-weight ratio. Pricing is at $17,899 for the base model and goes on upwards depending on options and customization. No word yet on whether this would make an Indian entry, but at the pace which Harley Davidson India is expanding don’t be surprised if model makes its way here soon.
