Along with the introduction of the ADAC Junior Cup came the introduction of the bike that will be used in the series and this turns out to be the KTM RC390 in its race prepped avatar. Now we have all been waiting for some ‘visual’ confirmation of this much awaited faired 390 ever since we had a verbal confirmation from the KTM CEO himself. The race version is almost similar to the actual road version sans the headlights, underbelly exhaust and a more complete fairing. The final road version will début at the EICMA this year and would see a launch in India by January. We must say it does look sharp. Expect vertically stacked projectors, a LED tail light and a covered tail section.
The engine on the 390 is something that has put competitors to shame and compare that to the expected weight of the about 150kgs the RC390 will surely be a stylish bike that takes all benchmarks already set and lifts it to an all new high. Check out the specifications of the race version below.
Stefan Pierer – KTM CEO on the KTM RC390
“We developed a pure GP racing machine for the Moto3 World Championship. In contrast, the RC 390 Cup is based on a series model project. Both of these two projects were given the highest priority because the development of lower displacement, high quality street bikes are among our core activities. The new KTM RC 390, which will be available for sale in 2014 will meet a big demand for affordable, quality sport bikes for the lower displacement class.”
“Since 1993, ADAC has achieved a great deal with excellent work with up-and-coming riders in the Junior Cup. The promotion and support of young talent is also a very important aspect for KTM. We are happy to put a lot of energy into this because we actively engage in the promotion of young riders both in off-road sports and on asphalt. We are honestly thrilled that we will be able to support the ADAC Junior Cup as the KTM 390 Cup with all KTM bikes. Also because with ADAC we have a committed, reliable and strong partner in which everyone involved is a professional.”

Who cares about the top speed??????
In India we should always look for acceleration than top speed. We cant go 160 or 180 on Indian roads unless you want to die…………………… So D390 Rocks In INDIA.
Best Thrilling Bike for its PRICE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@Nitro… not very much a fan of KTM Duke 390 I guess… its rivals are for surely the N300 and others… like CBR 400 .. even the CBR 400 does not have the specs of the Duke 390 and the price that it has been introduced for is pure awesomeness.. where do u get a 373cc engine for such a damn good price.. CBR with ABS costs more than this and also is not very effective.. I own a CBR and I know that the Duke 373 is awesomeness personified
Where exactly has the D390 put its competitors to shame? WHere are its competitors anyway? IF you are referring to the N300 or the CBR 250R you are a grade A idiot sorry because pricing does not make them rivals and even if it did, the N300 has a far better topspeed of a 192kmph compared to the D390’s 160 which is the same as the CBR 250R’s with an 80kg rider. The CBR loses out on acceleration for 0-100 by 2-2.5 seconds and when the introductory price is gone, the naked D390 will be priced higher than the CBR and this faired 390 will cost even more
