Team San Carlo Honda Gresini youngster Niccolo Antonelli made steady progress on board his Honda Moto3 machine today, running at the sharp end of the timesheets in testing at Jerez. Further set-up work on the NSF250R with his Showa suspension package and a new kit supplied by Geo Technology has wielded positive results and although there is still a lot of work to do the team and rider are very happy. The Italian was sixth fastest around the Spanish track in a time of 1’48.645. The final day of the test takes place tomorrow before the team heads to Qatar for the first race of the season at the Losail circuit on April 8th.
Niccolò Antonelli (6th 1’ 48” 645) “I am happy but I know that we still have a lot of work to do. My feeling with the bike is improving steadily and I am sure that when we find the ideal set-up I will be able to set some very fast times. It is a shame that I ran into some traffic on my best lap, which cost me a few tenths, but I am happy anyway and ready to continue working hard tomorrow.”
Fausto Gresini “The kid is impressive and I am sure he has plenty of room to improve still further. He went fast today considering that the set-up of the bike is still not perfect but we will continue to work on that tomorrow with his input and I am sure we can take another step forward. I am confident that we have started out on the right foot.”
