All the top manufacturers are busy providing options in the fast growing adventure touring segment, and the latest to join this rush is Aprilia with the Caponord 1200 which it unveiled at the just concluded EICMA.

Powered by a 1200cc liquid cooled, 90 degree V-twin that produces 128 horses and 116Nm of torque the 2013 Aprilia Caponord is packed with electronics that would put make other motorcycles seem like a blender from the 90’s. There is selectable engine mapping, a ride by wire throttle, ABS and 3 level adjustable traction control, optional extra includes a on the go suspension adjusting option and cruise control. The 6 speed gear box has a hydraulic clutch. The chassis is a mix of steel tubes and forged aluminium. The wind shield is height adjustable, the tank capacity is at 24 litres and the exhaust is adjustable for height which ensures that the panniers do not obstruct in any way. The tyres are 17 inch ones with a 120/70 section at front and a 190/55 at the rear. Front suspension duty is done by 43mm Sachs USD forks and at the rear a fully adjustable Sachs mono-shock. Braking is handled by twin 320mm radial mounted 4 piston Brembo’s at the front and a 240mm one at the rear.
