The Piaggio Group at the Milan Motor Show quite literally took up half of the exhibition pavilions. Their stalls included that of Vespa, Derbi, Moto Guzzi, Gilera, and Aprilia. The maxi scooter the SRV 850 generated a lot of attention at the Aprilia stall and definitely looks a winner.
The SRV 850 is a transformed version of the Gilera GP 800. The motor thanks to an optimized control system now produces 76 horsepower and 76 nm of torque. The engine is mounted on a flexible cradle that substantially reduces the vibrations. This scooter comes with 16 inch alloys up front and 15 at the rear. The suspension is made of USD forks of 41 mm diameter upfront and a mono shock absorber at the rear. The braking is done by Brembo’s composed of two semi-floating 300 mm discs with floating caliper with two pistons at the front and a 280 mm disc with floating calliper at the rear. There is also a parking brake. The SRV 850 takes its design cues from the Aprilia motorcycle products, with the front panel and lights from the Aprilia RSV and rear LED lights from the model Dorsoduro.
