U.K.-based personality, Dakar rider, UNICEF fundraiser and the guy next door who went around the world, Charley Boorman has returned to Canada. Currently Boorman is riding across the second largest land-mass in the world, and he is filming for ‘Extreme Frontiers Canada’ a television reality series for the UK’s Channel 5, and before you ask, Yes! He is riding the BMW 1200GS.

Boorman is best known for his previous work ‘Long Way Round’ and ‘Long Way Down’, with actor Ewan McGregor, as well as his Dakar Rally effort in ‘Race for the Dakar’. ‘Extreme Frontiers Canada‘ will add to that list, and has started in Newfoundland on June 9th, 2011 with his destination as BMW Motorrad Canada. Boorman has a support vehicle for majority of the journey, but as with his previous series will periodically travel independently of it on side trips, including a lengthy journey to the Northwest Territories. Boorman will be joined by his pal and director Russ Malkin on his trip. Here’s hoping Charley takes in the epic Dempster and the grandeur of the Grand Canyon of the Stikine on his way. The TV series will air on the UK’s Channel 5 early in 2012.
