Simple Energy recently opened the doors to its first manufacturing plant, Simple Vision 1.0, on January 19th, 2023. The state-of-the-art facility, located in Shoolagiri, Tamil Nadu, is set to begin operations and commence final production of the highly-anticipated flagship product, the Simple ONE electric scooter. Spanning 200,000 sqft, the plant is equipped with a GA Line (General Assembly Line), India’s first patented in-house motor manufacturing line, a battery manufacturing line, and other facilities such as cell storage and a Customer Acceptance Line. The plant also boasts a testing facility for in-house vehicle testing and is considered one of the safest manufacturing plants in the country.

The Simple Vision 1.0 plant was built with an initial investment of INR 100 cr and has the capacity to produce up to 1 million units annually, making it one of the most significant plants set up by an OEM in its early stages. The facility aims to provide employment to 700+ people locally, with a focus on having a female-dominated workforce.

In a statement, Simple Energy’s Founder & CEO, Suhas Rajkumar, said, “We started this journey four years ago and have reached a stage just one step away from production and deliveries. The inauguration of Simple’s first manufacturing unit in Shoolagiri, TN is a stepping stone for the future expansion plans.” With more products in the pipeline and a focus on R&D, Simple Energy aims to be at the forefront of the ongoing global transition to green mobility.
