Decathlon has announced the Rockrider E-ST100 electric cycle. This is the company’s first-ever electric cycle designed for India and will be available starting from March 25th. Initially, the company will launch 150 e-cycles in three stores in Bengaluru: Anubhava, Whitefield, and Bannerghatta Road. With the assistance of the pedal-assisted electric mountain cycle, customers can easily reach speeds of up to 25 kmph, after which the electric assistance will be cut off according to Indian regulations.

The Rockrider E-ST100 is equipped with a 250W rear hub motor, and its high torque of 42 Nm (newton metres) makes it easy for riders to climb slopes. This electric cycle is equipped with a detachable, Samsung Lithium-ion cell battery pack with a capacity of 10.5 Ah (amp hours) (380 Wh (watt hours)). It can be charged in just six hours and provide pedal assistance for up to 100 kilometres on a single charge in mode 1 on flat terrain. To ensure safety and quality, the Samsung cells used in the battery pack are BIS certified. Moreover, the E-ST100 is ARAI certified for maximum power and maximum cut-off speed. The model comes in two frame sizes – Medium and Large to accommodate different rider heights.
Ebin Mathew, E-Cycle Project Leader at Decathlon Sports India, commented on the “Rockrider E-ST100”, saying, “We are introducing the first-ever ‘Rockrider E-ST100’ electric cycle initially in the city of Bengaluru, which is home to Decathlon’s most active cycling community. We are confident that this electric cycle will become a popular choice for both weekend hill climbs and daily commuters due to its durability, versatility, and environmental friendliness. We also plan to introduce this to other cities in the near future. At Decathlon, we are committed to promoting sustainable transportation and encouraging an active lifestyle, and this new addition is a testament to that commitment.”
