Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India has launched the new OBD2 compliant 2023 SP 125. The new SP 125 features a 125cc BSVI OBD2 compliant PGM-FI engine powered by Enhanced Smart Power (eSP), with reduced friction, silent start and a smooth eco-friendly ride. The patented ACG starter motor ensures quick, silent and jolt-free start every time. The full digital meter displays real-time advanced information needed for the daily ride. The advanced styling features an aggressive fuel tank with enhanced graphics, modern headlamp and bold rear. The 2023 SP 125 will be offered in both Drum and Disc variants, and will come in five different colors including Black, Matte Axis Grey Metallic, Imperial Red Metallic, Pearl Siren Blue, and Mat Marvel Blue Metallic. The pricing is quite reasonable, with the Drum variant priced at Rs 85,131/- and the Disc variant priced at Rs 89,131/- (ex-showroom, Delhi).
Enhanced Smart Power (eSP) is a combination of various advanced features designed to improve the performance of the new SP 125 motorcycle from Honda. The unique Honda ACG Starter ensures jolt-free engine start by using the AC generator to charge the battery and generate current. This eliminates the need for a conventional starter motor, resulting in a quieter engine start.
To aid in starting the engine with minimal force, the eSP incorporates two mechanical features. The first involves efficient use of decompression with slightly opened exhaust valves at the beginning of the compression stroke. The second feature, called Swing Back, rotates the engine slightly in the opposite direction to allow the piston to take a “running start.” This makes it easier to start the engine with less power.
Another feature of the eSP is the Programmed Fuel Injection (PGM-FI) system. It uses seven onboard sensors to inject the optimum fuel and air mixture, resulting in consistent power output, high fuel efficiency, and reduced emissions.
The eSP also includes various features to reduce friction, such as the piston cooling jet to maintain optimum engine temperature and the use of a rocker roller arm with needle bearing. These features result in smoother power output and improved fuel efficiency.
The new SP 125 comes equipped with a full digital meter that displays real-time information for the rider, such as fuel efficiency details, ECO Indicator, Gear Position Indicator, Service Due Indicator, and other important information. The fuel efficiency details provide the rider with real-time informatics like Distance to Empty, Average fuel efficiency (fuel efficiency of trip), and Real-time Fuel Efficiency. The switchable ECO Indicator measures various parameters to determine economical riding conditions and glows when the rider achieves the best fuel efficiency. The Gear Position Indicator displays the current engaged gear, allowing the rider to optimize the motorcycle’s performance.
