Aprilia RS 660 production version spotted testing

Aprilia is testing its RS660 sport bike and a production version may follow sometime very soon. Race and Street trim versions of the bike have been spied testing and both look ready to enter the production line. This indicates a possible debut at EICMA 2019 with the RS660 being a MY2020 version. A parallel-twin engine will be used for the Aprilia RS660 as known from the unveiling which is majorly inspired by the V4 engine from the RSV4 superbike and a twin cylinder configuration will be ensured although displacement figures are still unknown.

Yet, sources point at the RS660 nomenclature itself being a major hint towards expected power figures. Power figures should hover around 100 HP as per estimates and the RS660 will be a high performing and lightweight model which could give leading players like the Kawasaki Ninja 650 a run for its money in its segment.

The bike may receive the APRC electronics suite which was originally created for the RSV4 platform that majorly inspires the RS660. The Ninja 650 from Kawasaki currently sells at $7,400 MSRP which indicates that the Aprilia RS 660 should have a price point anywhere near the sub-$10, 000 mark. Spreading costs throughout multiple projects may be possible by using the platform to come up with sport-touring, adventure and naked versions in the future. As a result, a more competitive price could be expected for the Aprilia RS660.
