The Royal Enfield Desert Storm 500 and Classic Chrome 500 are being launched in India on 29th September. Both the Classic Chrome 500 and the Desert Storm 500 will feature the same torquey 499cc, single cylinder UCE engine with 27.2 Bhp of peak power and 41.3 Nm of peak torque. This engine has received a host of refinements ever since the UCE 500’s launch in 2009. A remapped ECU to tackle the mild jerking the engine faced at certain RPM’s, and is the only change apart from the paint job.
The 500CC classics definitely added that extra spice for Royal Enfield with huge amounts of booking for the same. The only hiccup for a prospective customer is the unbelievable 6-10 months waiting period depending on the machine model. The Desert Storm 500 and Classic Chrome 500 surely spruce up the line up in quite dashing style, but we sure do hope the waiting period for these, will not be as exotic as the paint job.
