Honda India have announced that they will be launching a new model on June 12th, 2013. Now going by the recent trend of things at Honda and in the general the two wheeler market in India, this new launch from Honda is in all likely to be new scooter. Looking at the current Honda range there are two ways that things can go. Since all the current Honda range of scooters in India have the same 109cc engine we could see a new lighter scooter with the same engine targeted at the young women crowd, although this is highly unlikely. The other more likely possibility is a 125cc scooter based on the Honda Lead 125. Again, knowing Honda and its way of cost cutting we might just see a new scooter with the design cues of the Lead 125 with the same 109cc engine, which would be rather disappointing. Also do not be surprised if Honda decides to to stick with the name ‘Activa’ for this new scooter as well, as industry talks suggest that it could be named the ‘Activa-i’.
The Honda Lead 125 that is sold internationally is fuel injected, but we are most likely to get a carburetted version. It also comes with telescopic forks and will mostly have disc brake as an option and weighs just 115kgs. The official invite shown above surely does not give away any details so June 12th it is, watch this place as we bring you the latest on this new Honda.
